On August 26 2007 left-behind family Bihn Oshima, Ronald MacKinnon, Eddie, Eric Kalmus, and Nigel Lewis protested against the Japan's repeated calls for a seat on the United Nations Security Council as well as the hypocrisy behind Japan’s . We called for the Japanese government to return children abducted to Japan, to extradite all Japanese citizens wanted for international child abduction and to sign the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
After weeks of preparation, left behind parent Eric, was able to organize CRN Japan’s 5th protest. This time left behind parents joined together at United Nations headquarters in New York City. Ronald MacKinnon was anxious to tell the world his story just days after the New Jersey
Supreme court ruled on allowing his US born daughter to be relocated to Japan. Ron was joined at the United Nations by Justine’s Step-Brother Eddie.
Bihn Oshima, a mother who has been fighting for years now
had a chance to discuss her successes and difficulties with local camera crews and passers by.
Nigel Lewis was able to share his story with a number of interested listeners. One day prior to his return to a NY State court, Nigel was very interested in helping people understand how hard it is having your children ripped from your life.
The day was a great success. We spoke with a large number of visitors to the United Nations as well as a number of UN officials as well.
